Aei…all about sustainability!

What is “sustainability”? Google or chat GPT would give enormous amount of mindless text, which feels great to read but how much of it converts into practice is questionable. Ages ago, our greatest forefathers did not know the term sustainability, yet they practiced it diligently. Today, sustainability is THE word, yet I doubt how many of us do understand it.

Sustainability does not tell us to not cut a tree; sustainability says, if the requirement is of absolute necessity, than the resourcefulness of the object to be sacrificed and there is no other better or closer alternative, then we should go ahead and cut the tree. Not to forget, at the same time, plant another ten saplings, nurture them till they start growing on their own to replenish the loss caused due to the loss of the resource.

Sustainability, today must be the most mis-used and mis-understood term used largely for capital gains. Plastics and chemicals in different forms are being used in the name of sustainability, major brands are facing a backlash due to over stocking, wastage is encouraged in the name of consumer satisfaction. Sustainability is a very broad term and at Aei we are working at a very micro level with a focus on sustainability. We know we have a long way to walk ahead, but we are on the path and on our journey we will improvise. We do not over produce based on speculation and over stock rather we focus on made to order, we encourage buy back of our products to be refurbished and re-sold, we offer to customize as per requirement, we don’t discard or dump our defective products or returns but re-use them in a creative way. Also, the use of plastic and hazardous chemicals is completely omitted from our products.

It is a vicious cycle created by global brands, where either the consumer is charged higher to account for unnecessary wastes or the vendor is charge backed with discounts or claims for unsold inventory. Our manufacturing partners produce as per demand and don’t produce and stock based on speculation. Our delivery timelines are between 7 to 10 days, including the lead time for making and shipping of a product. We partner with responsible manufacturing partners, who can turn around production with shorter lead times and also ensure quality which accounts for our low inventory stock and slightly longer lead times.

Finally, the question we all should think about, we are manufacturing our products responsibly but are you also buying responsibly?

Buy responsibly and not in haste, avoiding waste!
